Taking a university teaching building in Beijing as an example, investigates the usage condition of the self-learning classrooms during heating season. Measures the environment variables of the self-learning classrooms under different usage rate conditions, including indoor dry bulb temperature, mean radiant temperature, relative humidity, air velocity and concentration of carbon dioxide. Conducts subjective surveys using questionnaires. The results show that there is obvious feature for the usage rate of self-learning classrooms, and there is no obvious worsening tendency of thermal environment when the occupant density in self-learning classrooms increases. It is practicable to reasonably arrange the number of opened self-learning classrooms and open time according to students’ demand for indoor environment, which may contribute to significantly reduce the energy consumption of university teaching buildings.
